Chocolate was on the lips of shoppers in Bury St Edmunds yesterday and today as they were tempted by a chocolate fountain, cocktails and artisan creations at the Arc Shopping Centre.
They made a bee-line for the twin giant teepee in Charter Square for the Chocolate Festival which had stalls, and sofas and armchairs and blankets so people could grab a cocktail, sit down, relax and enjoy themselves.
The festival was themed around Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and queues formed for the free chocolate fountain run by Peter Hopkins, of UK Chocolate Fountain Hire, based in Watton.
He said: “It was non stop for me yesterday and there was always a long queue of people and by 1.30 I had ran out.”
There were stalls from Marimba World in Sudbury and Newmarket’s Artistry in Cocoa who had activities to take part in for a small charge along with the Chocolate Cocktail Club’s bar where options included the Christmas Chocolatini (chocolate liqueur, dark crème de cacao and chocolate milk), Sleigh Ride Salted Caramel (chocolate liqueur, salted caramel vodka and chocolate milk) and Santa’s Strawberry Hat (chocolate vodka, white crème de cacao, strawberry liqueur and strawberry milk).
Arc centre manager Colin Roberts said: “ We are excited to host a chocolate festival. It is a great opportunity to come and relax with friends for a few cocktails or to bring along your little ones for free chocolate crafts.”
