Commuters were evacuated from a busy train station in London today due to reports of a fire, which turned out to be a false alarm.
Fire crews were called to London Liverpool Street, which receives Greater Anglia trains from Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk, this afternoon amid fears of a blaze.
Members of public and staff were evacuated and the station was closed while firefighters worked at the scene.
However, London Fire Brigade later confirmed this was a false alarm.
The service put on Twitter: “We’ve concluded our investigation at #LiverpoolStreet & there was no fire. The station has reopened.”
There were no reported disruptions to Greater Anglia rail services as a result of the incident.
