An early morning single vehicle collision on the A11 heading northbound has seen a man taken to Addenbrookes Hospital.

Officers were sent to the scene, at Red Lodge, Bury St Edmunds, at 6.07am today following reports of a single vehicle crash.

Police closed one of the lanes on the A11 causing heavy traffic to build.

The AA website indicated that there is queuing traffic heading towards Thetford on the A11 due to the accident which has partially blocked the carriageway.

A police spokesman said that they called out paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service to the scene.

Since then a statement from the East of England Ambulance Service has indicated that the man involved in the collision is seriously injured.

The ambulance service spokesman said: “An ambulance was called to the northbound A11 near Red Lodge, Bury St Edmunds, shortly after 6am this morning, Friday November 23, following reports of a road traffic collision.

“A man was transported to Addenbrookes hospital with a serious facial injury.”
