Archant

Two independent councillors have given nearly £2,000 towards improvements to Newbury Community Centre, on the Howard Estate.

St Edmundsbury Borough councillor Paul Hopfensperger and Suffolk county councillor David Nettleton have provided a total of £1,974.94 to have a bench and new bin installed, replacing an “eyesore” shrubbery at the entrance.

Mr Hopfensperger gave £1,641.16 from his locality budget while Mr Nettleton made up the remaining amount.
