A rare toy replica of the first Automobile World Championship winning car has sold at a Suffolk auction for thousands of pounds.
The CIJ of France Alfa Romeo P2 racing car child's toy was one of the lots making up Toys and Models auction at Lacy Scott & Knight in Bury St Edmunds on Friday.
The toy is a replica of the Alfa Romeo P2 that won the inaugural Automobile World Championship in 1925.
The replica sold is 100% original with no signs of restoration and complete with hand operated steering and brake lever.
The tinplate body is finished in purple with the original racing number 2 and four leaf clover motifs on the side of the bonnet and Alfa Romeo insignia on the front.
It was estimated to be worth between £9,000 and £10,000 and sold for £9000.

The Alfa Romeo P2 car was designed by Vittorio Jano for the first Grand Prix World Championship in 1925.
Alfa Romeo won the first World Championship after wins by Antonio Ascari in the European Grand Prix at Spa and Gastone Brilli-Peri at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
The car was retired in 1930 after Achille Varzi won at Targa Florio in Sicily in a modified version of the P2.
