The A14 was closed in both directions after a "police-led incident".
Emergency services were called to the incident between junction 45 at Blackthorpe and junction 46 at Beyton Green at 3pm on Friday.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said officers were at the scene and both carriageways were both closed.
According to the AA Traffic Map there were severe delays in the area.
