With the summer season coming to an end, there is increasingly less opportunity to sample good, fresh, local produce - but it is not too late.

The Good Food Guide has compiled a list of the best restaurants for savouring British summer produce, and The Leaping Hare at Wyken Vineyards, near Stanton in west Suffolk, has featured.

The Leaping Hare is situated in a converted medieval barn in the centre of a 1,200 acre farm, and a significant amount of the produce used by the chefs comes from the surrounding landscape - from the venison, hogget, pork and game reared on the estate to the salads and vegetables grown in the kitchen garden.

Their vision - to tell the story between Suffolk farm, English vineyard, garden and plate - has seen them win multiple awards, including Best Restaurant in Suffolk in 2016 and 2020. They have held a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 22 years and for the past two years won a Michelin Green Initiative Award.

The restaurant is open from Wednesday to Sunday for breakfast and lunch and on Friday and Saturday evenings for dinner service.
