Three takeaways in Suffolk have been shortlisted as regional winners of a prestigious Asian food award.

Britain's Top Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards 2023 (ARTA) have announced the shortlist for the eastern region, and three takeaways in Suffolk have made the cut.

These are the finalists for Suffolk:

1. Lime Takeaway, Bury St Edmunds

The Lime Takeaway on St Olaves Road, near the New Bury Community Centre, is a popular Indian takeaway in the local area.

From the traditional tandoori dishes to a range of house specials, this takeaway is available to order online for collection or delivery, making it a great low-effort option for those looking for a cosy night in.

2. Eastern Spice, Ipswich

This takeaway on Woodbridge Road doesn't only serve the locals with delicious Indian cuisine but also has a kid's menu and a selection of wraps available.

They also have a 'flavour of the day' cheesecake option for those looking for a sweet fix.

3. Kala Sheep Indian takeaway, Newmarket

Only opening in Newmarket in May 2022, the fact that this takeaway has made it to the shortlist for the Eastern region shows how popular it is.

This Indian takeaway has an extensive list of specials, including the 1979 Chicken which, according to their menu, is two curries mixed into one.

Kala Sheep also sell iced coffee, ice cream and a range of alcoholic beverages.

Mohammed Munim, Founder Member and CEO of ARTA said: "Asian takeaways have made a significant contribution to the UK economy. They deserve recognition and rewards for their efforts."

The finalists were chosen based on nominations from customers across the UK, food hygiene ratings and social media, with the judges making the final decisions.

The winners will be announced at the London Hilton Hotel in Park Lane on October 8.
