When one of the most renowned reviewers on social media gives your scotch egg glowing recognition, the only thing to do is see what the hype is about.

So we jumped in the car and headed out to a Bury St Edmunds butcher to try a selection of their mighty treats - and we were absolutely blown away.

Last week, Edis of Ely received recognition for its scotch eggs after content creator Food Review Club reviewed one.

The video has been viewed over 2.3m times on TikTok, and sales rocketed at the Bury butchers.

EADT photographer Charlotte Bond and myself went along to try their three variety of scotch eggs, Chilli Chorzio, the Breakfast One and the Original.

In the video, Matt from Food Review Club described the original scotch egg as a "banger", and we agree.

The original scotch egg, made with their sausage mix, has been in the family for around 60 years.

It is wrapped around an egg with panko bread crumb and served to us warm, with a perfectly cooked egg.

The scotch egg had a nice crunch to it and was perfectly fried, and had the perfect ratio of meat to egg, and...it only takes around seven minutes to cook.

It only cost £1.35, which for that price, is an absolute steal, and we can see why it is regarded as the best scotch egg in Bury.

How would the other eggs fare? Well, next was the popular Breakfast scotch egg, made with bacon, sundried tomatoes and added herbs to give it a more breakfast sausage taste.

This also had a nice crunch to it and had a lovely flavour.

This was my colleague's favourite of the three, stating there was a good amount of bacon wrapped around the egg, and the added herbs gave it a lovely taste.

The chilli chorizo one was my favourite, as it had a lovely kick to it, a little bit of heat but not too much that those that dislike hot foods wouldn't like it.

There was a good amount of chilli in there, and the crunch was again, perfect.

Both the Chilli chorizo one and the Breakfast scotch egg cost £2.

If you want to try something new the butchers is releasing its newest flavour, garlic parmesan, this weekend.

Overall, with the price, service, and quality, it's hard to rate Edis of Ely's scotch eggs anything less than five stars.
