Whilst Suffolk is a popular holiday destination for its picturesque villages and beaches, there are several attractions which have been lost over the years.

We asked our readers which Suffolk attractions they would like to see make a comeback.

Here are five of the most popular responses ...

1. Broomhill Pool

Broomhill Pool was designed by Ipswich County Borough surveyor, Mr E McLaughlin, and opened in 1938. It closed after the 2002 season due to pressure on budgets.

The Art Deco lido might not be lost for much longer, however, with large investments recently announced from Fusion Lifestyle, the National Lottery heritage Fund and Ipswich Borough Council.

2. Lowestoft Airshow

Suffolk's largest airshow stopped in 2012.

A popular destination to watch the Vulcan Bombers, Hawker Hurricanes and the Red Arrows, hundreds of thousands of people flocked to the coast for the show.

Whilst organisers spent 18 months attempting to secure funding following the 2012 show, they called it a day in 2014.

3. Debenhams

May 2021 saw the closure of all Debenhams stores across the UK.

Whilst there aren't any known proposals for the former Ipswich store, plans have emerged for a Primark and a cinema to move into the Bury St Edmunds site

4. Shrubland Hall

Shrubland Hall in Coddenham is a historic English country house. Whilst it was opened as a hotel, restaurant and spa in 2015, it closed again in 2017 and has since fallen into a state of disrepair

The house has also served as a convalescent home for wounded soldiers and a detox health clinic in the 1960s.

5. Mildenhall Airshow

The Mildenhall Air Fete was held at the base between 1976 and 2001. Its links to the United States Air Force made it a popular destination for US burgers and hotdogs.

Although it is rumoured that RAF Mildenhall closed in 2015, the base remains open to this day.
