There were good wins for the West Suffolk duo of Bury Town and Mildenhall Town in the Bostik North tonight.

BURY TOWN celebrated their third win from six league starts this season, 2-1 away at struggling Witham Town.

The visitors were 2-0 up at half-time, thanks to goals from Ryan Clements (21 minutes) and Ollie Hughes (35). Sam Ashford halved the deficit with a 70th minute penalty, but Ben Chenery’s men held on to take all three points.

Meanwhile, MILDENHALL TOWN notched their first win of the season in the same division, by a convincing 3-0 score-line at home to Dereham Town, who had begun the evening in eighth slot.

Tom Debenham set the ball rolling with a 36th minute opener, and livewire Abouhadje Kouassi doubled the lead just three minutes later in front of a crowd of 195 at Recreation Way.

Mildenhall made the game safe in the last minute of normal time, Emmanuel Osei-Owusu netting their third, so sealing a first win in seven starts – they had drawn four of their first five fixtures.

FELIXSTOWE & WALTON UNITED were trailing early on against basement dwellers Soham Town Rangers, and eventually slipped to a disappointing 3-1 home defeat.

Alfie Connor put Soham 1-0 up in the eighth minute, but Jack Ainsley converted a 26th minute penalty to leave it 1-1 at half-time. Joe Carden regained the lead for the Cambridgeshire side in the 57th minute, and Sam Mulready increased their lead with five minutes remaining to seal the Seasiders’ fate.

HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS enjoyed a good start at league leaders Basildon United, taking the lead through Joe Gardner in the 12th minute.

Eljay Worrell equalised via the penalty spot in the 40th minute, and Worrell then struck again with the winner on 83 minutes.

Elsewhere, Aaron Condon netted in the 70th minute as COGGESHALL TOWN looked set for victory at Brentwood, only for Luke Foster to grab an 84th minute equaliser for the hosts in a 1-1 draw.

- In an FA Cup second qualifying round replay, BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT beat Egham 2-1 via goals from Billy Hunt (45) and Jake Turner (67) to secure a mouth-watering home tie against former Football League side Torquay United.
