A Suffolk park which was once the playground of kings is being offered up for sale with a guide price of £2.5m.
The 177-acre Fornham Park at Bury St Edmunds at one time included a magnificent mansion house, which hosted shooting parties with royal guests including King Edward VII and King George V.
The house was demolished in 1957 but some features, including an ice house, mansion steps and commanding church tower remain.
Clarke and Simpson agent Oliver Holloway said it was likely to appeal to a wide range of buyers as it was “a truly unique” opportunity to acquire a strategic large block of land. “Our clients have invested significantly in Fornham Park since they purchased it in 1999 and have carried out substantial improvements on many aspects of the property – one such example is the extensive restoration and expansion of the beautiful lakes and enchanting boathouse adjacent to the River Lark.”
The land is being offered for sale as a whole or in lots.
