More than 40 vintage and classic tractors took part in the 16th annual ploughing match in west Suffolk at the weekend, which was organised by the East Anglian branch of the Ferguson Club.

The match was held on the Ampton Hall estate, near Bury St Edmunds, by kind permission of the Turner family, on Sunday, October 7.

Organisers said that ploughing conditions were challenging due to the dry weather prior to the event, which meant the ground was very hard and made life difficult for drivers.

In total, 43 tractors took part and each driver received a plaque, which was sponsored by Silver Fox Tractor Spares.

David Allen was crowned Ferguson Champion, and Colleen Pearce picked up the ladies title, while Peter Wilson won the Novice Ploughman award.

Martin Wilkinson took the Classic Mounted title, Paul Sadler won the Vintage Mounted section and Peter Rudling picked up the Best Restored Ferguson award.

The match was organised by local members of the Ferguson Club, Henry Castle and Don Sapsford, with a donation sent to the Papworth Hospital Charity.
