The inaugural Nowton Park Bury St Edmunds Dog Show proved a resounding success, with around £4,000 raised for the hospital charity.

Despite travellers turning up on the festival ground just days before the event, the show went ahead without a hitch after they agreed to move elsewhere in the park.

Sue Smith, My WiSH fundraising manager, said: “It was brilliant from start to finish, absolutely fantastic. We had about 750 people through the gate and the feedback from everyone has been amazing.

“We brought the show into the town to make it a real community event and it has worked.

“The highlight of the day had to be the Dachshund Dash – sausages dogs of all sizes just running their little legs off. My team were amazing it get it all organised and absolutely we will be retuning next year.”
