THE recruitment process for a joint chief executive of two councils has begun this week.
Forest Heath District Council and St Edmundsbury Borough Council recently agreed to unify their staffing structure under the management of a joint chief executive and a shared senior management team will then follow.
A statement issued by the two councils said business acumen and the ability to create effective partnerships across all sectors would be key skills in the new post.
The recruitment process is open to each council’s current chief executive as well as other internal and external candidates. The annual salary has been agreed by both councils as somewhere between £105,000 and £115,000.
The two council leaders, councillor John Griffiths (St Edmundsbury) and councillor James Waters (Forest Heath) said: “Between us, we will be much stronger working together but this job is more than simply joining up two councils – it is an exciting opportunity to shape the future. We are looking for someone who can cut through the usual public sector tangles and create innovative partnerships to deliver services which reflect the current economic climate and demands.”
