MORE than 500 homes will soon be able to get flood warnings from the Environment Agency.
The flood warning scheme gives those at risk of groundwater flooding alerts if levels start to rise.
The agency has now extended the scheme to certain homes and business in Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Fornham St Martin.
About 540 homes and businesses at risk of groundwater flooding will be able to benefit from the service.
They will get an information pack explaining the new service and how to sign up. They can then choose how they receive alerts, by e-mail, phone or fax.
Agency officer Chris Gooch said: “We are constantly reviewing and looking for ways to improve our flood warning service to ensure that we can offer the best possible service to the public.”
