Nowton Park country fair, which took place yesterday on the edge of Bury St Edmunds, was believed to have attracted more then 10,000 visitors. Now in its 23rd year, new acts in the countryside arena included Bob Hogg and his sheepdog display.

Other entertainment included gymnastics and dancing.

Councillor Sara Mildmay-White, cabinet member for culture and sport at St Edmundsbury Borough Council, said: “Nowton Park country fair’s enduring appeal is being an excellent family day out in an award-winning setting.

“It sums up the English summer and after more than 20 years it has become a feature occasion in the borough’s calendar. It is wonderful to see so many people of all ages coming together and joining in the fun at such a popular outdoor event.”
