D (Cambridgeshire) Company of 1 Royal Anglian represented the British Army in France on the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Amiens, which saw the start of the Allied 100 day offensive that would end trench warfare and, subsequently, the First World War.

The Duke of Cambridgeshire watched alongside Prime Minister Theresa May as the Battalion, known as ‘The Vikings’, provided the Guard of Honour and paraded alongside representatives from France, Canada and Australia.

In a Facebook post celebrating the event, the Regiment wrote: “There can be no more poignant experience to these young soldiers than to stand in this place and remember their forebears as they prepare for operations.”
