A PERSONAL trainer from Bury St Edmunds will follow in the footsteps of an ancient Greek runner, when he takes part in a gruelling race.
Kevin Marshall, 51, is in training for the Spartathlon, when he will aim to cover 154 miles in 36 hours.
The Spartathlon, which takes place in Greece in September, revives the footsteps of Pheidippides, who ran to Sparta to seek help in the war between the Greeks and Persians in 490 BC, arriving in Sparta the day after his departure from Athens.
Kevin said: “This is an endurance event, which you can run or walk. Certainly I will have to run at first if I want to cover the distance, but there will be some walking I’m sure.
“Taking part in this event has been in my head for a long time.”
Kevin is also a Nordic walking instructor and is offering a taster session on February 11. To book, call him on 01284 716483 or 07955 495016.
