Sam Delo, of Ipswich Street, Bury St Edmunds, is charged with robbing him of cash and his mobile phone on Tuesday in Bury.

Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court heard today how the 43 year old suffered a four-inch cut to the crown of his head and injuries to his hand.

Police had earlier said a hammer was allegedly used in the incident.

The court heard how the alleged robbery was said to have taken place in the afternoon in the nature reserve off Spring Lane.

Delo has been remanded in custody to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on February 21 at 10am.

There is a trial window from June 25 to August 10 this year.
