A couple are celebrating the first anniversary of their tax and accountancy advice firm TaxAssist Accountants in Bury Saint Edmunds.

After spending 20 years as an expat in Singapore, Eliott Betts returned to the UK with his Singaporean wife Lili Huang and their 12 year-old twin daughters to settle near Mr Bett’s parents in Suffolk. Last May, they opened their office on Bury’s Northgate Street.

This Thursday, the couple are marking their first year in business with a party to thank the local community for taking them under their wing.

“We have enjoyed a very successful first year and the response we’ve received from the local business community has been fantastic,” said Mr Betts, 51. “With demand for our services continuing to grow, our shop is in a great location with high visibility making it convenient and accessible for small business owners in and around Bury St Edmunds.”

The couple hope to grow their business with the addition of new staff “in the pipeline”, said Ms Huang, 43. “Getting to know the Bury community is an ongoing process. I’m still getting used to England and it not being hot all the time!”

TaxAssist Accountants is the largest national network of independent accountants working specifically for small businesses, servicing over 66,000 clients.
