The multi-vehicle crash on the A14 eastbound at Risby, near Bury St Edmunds, had caused “havoc” during the evening rush hour.

The collision took place at around 5.30pm this evening, police said.

There were no serious injuries reported from the scene of the crash, which blocked both lanes for more than 30 minutes.

Emergency services were called, including firefighters, and work began to move all the vehicles to a nearby layby and remove some liquid which had spilt onto a section of the road.

Police said “four or five” vehicles were involved in the collision, including a silver Toyota Yaris, but could not confirm further details.

The crash took place between junction 40 (Coalpit Lane) and junction 41 (South Street).

The AA had earlier reported “severe delays” in the area, lasting up to 20 minutes.

A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman also said the incident was causing “havoc” during the rush hour.

The road had reopened at 6.05pm.
