David Simmons, of Park Lane, Kirton, appeared at South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court where he indicated no plea in response to the charge.

The accident happened in the northbound carriageway close to the turning for Seckford Hall on February 19.

Motorcyclist Andrew Henderson, 33, from Colchester was killed at the scene.

Simmons, 57, was driving a blue Vauxhall Zafira and was arrested at the scene of the crash.

The court heard District Judge David Cooper decline jurisdiction over the case. He will next appear at the Elm Street court on August 1 where he will be committed to Ipswich Crown Court for a plea hearing.
