Legendary football commentator John Motson has died aged 77.

Motson, or Motty as he is known by football fans across the country grew up in west Suffolk and went to Culford School.

He was part of the BBC commentary team from 1971 until he retired in 2017.

During the late 1970s Motson wrote a collumn for the Ipswich Town matchday programme.

"Rest in peace, John."

Motson had many connections with Suffolk as he regulary turned up to events in the county whether they were football related or not.

After the 1978 FA Cup final he returned back to Suffolk to cover Town's victory over Arsenal.

In 1980 he joined then Town bss Bobby Robson in a charity match at the end of Robson's testimonial season at the club.
